About
Hilke Steenkamp is an educator whose academic career began in 2009. Steenkamp has lectured communication and journalism-related subjects at various institutions of higher learning in South Africa. She joined Zayed University’s College of Communication and Media Sciences in December 2020 to facilitate various Integrated Strategic Communication courses.
At Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) (South Africa), Steenkamp served in both the Department of Applied Languages and the Department of Journalism. During her tenure at TUT, she was the recipient of the Lecturer of the Year 2014 (Faculty of Humanities) and the Young Researcher of the Year 2016 (Faculty of Humanities) awards. At TUT she also gained senior academic administrative experience, served on various institutional committees such as the central Research Ethics Committee and Institutional Forum, and briefly acted as the Chair of the Journalism Department.
Steenkamp is an emerging research scholar who has published in the areas of corporate social responsibility, Ubuntu, communication management, social media, and corporate reputation management. Her current research focuses on artificial intelligence in communication management, and she is part of the research team for the Global Capability Framework (GCF) project in the United Arab Emirates.
